Merchandiser – Book Selection Specialist (m/f/d)

Your tasks
The Merchandiser – Book Selection Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the ideal assortment of TASCHEN books is available across all retail channels. This role requires a strong understanding of sales trends, a keen eye for visual merchandising, and the ability to strategically select products that enhance the customer experience while driving revenue. You will work closely with sales, marketing, and store teams to ensure TASCHEN's brand is consistently represented at the highest standard.

Product Selection & Sales Optimization
  • Analyze sales data to identify best-selling titles and adjust book selections accordingly to maximize revenue.
  • Develop curated book assortments tailored to specific locations, store profiles, and customer demographics.
  • Regularly review and refresh inventory to reflect new releases, seasonal trends, and sales performance.
Visual Merchandising Strategy
  • Ensure books are displayed in a visually compelling manner that aligns with TASCHEN’s luxury brand identity.
  • Create guidelines and collaborate with store teams to execute in-store merchandising that highlights key titles and themes.
  • Partner with retailers to advise on visual merchandising strategies that maximize visibility and appeal.
Collaboration with Retail Partners
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with TASCHEN’s retail partners to ensure optimal book selections for their audiences.
  • Provide training and guidance to retail teams on TASCHEN’s collection, unique selling points, and merchandising principles.
Inventory Management
  • Monitor inventory levels to avoid overstocking or stockouts, ensuring efficient turnover and profitability.
  • Work closely with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of books to stores and retailers.
Market Analysis & Insights
  • Conduct market research to understand customer preferences, competitive offerings, and industry trends.
  • Provide feedback to the publishing team on titles and formats that resonate with customers to inform future editions.
Your profile
  • Experience: 3+ years in merchandising, retail buying, or sales within the luxury, publishing, or lifestyle industries.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in sales analytics and inventory management tools to make data-driven decisions.
  • Aesthetic Sensibility: Strong visual merchandising skills with an understanding of luxury retail and TASCHEN’s brand identity.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent ability to collaborate with internal teams and external retail partners.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel frequently to TASCHEN stores and retail locations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with the publishing industry and an understanding of TASCHEN’s catalog.
  • Experience working in both direct-to-consumer retail and wholesale environments.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems and merchandising software.
  • Multilingual skills, particularly in German, French, or Spanish.
